How does Confucius explain and justify the inequalities among people?

How does Confucius explain and justify the inequalities among people?

And..

Why is it important for people to behave in appropriate ways towards others?|||Long before Confucius and during his time 400BC there has always been inequalities among people. There were nobility and bureaucrats, artisans and craftsmen, merchants, farmers and laborers. There has never been a time in their history where one class could easily enter that of another. Confucius never justified the inequalities because he never had experienced otherwise.

Morality, behavior and propriety was important because the birth of Civilization needed people to work together. If these rules were to be avoided they would have chaos. People would revert to living like animals... not work together and fight for every scrap of food, take each others wives and enslave captured children. Confucius believed that propriety was better than rules and laws. Guilt was a better insperation than a whip and chains in maintaining a civilization.
